Nina is from Ravensburg Germany and completed a degree in Veterenary Medicine from Giessen University in 2012. Nina also studied in Madrid Spain at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid during her time in Giessen. She pursued graduate work at the Free University in Berlin where she studied multidrug-resistant E. coli and earned a PhD in veterinary medicine and a PhD in Biomedical Sciences in 2016. She subsequently joined the Gilmore Lab in February 2017 under a Humboldt Research Fellowship where she is currently studying the evolution of vancomycin resistance in enterococci.
